Here is my feedback after an extensive reading of the new rules (some of these I have already talked to Andrew Medeiros about, but would love to see the opinions of others as well.)

1. Curious people’s opinions of Keep it Cool. This move was derived as a combination of Face You Fears (which was later named something else that is leaving my mind) and Take a Chance. My issue is that it feels an internal action when you as a person Keep Your Cool, but an external action when you Take a Chance. This becomes easier to judge what to do as an MC.

2. I am curious on Persuade an NPC vs Threaten an NPC/Persuade. If my Werewolf is tackling the bouncer, not to do him harm, but to let his friends sneak in …. that felt a perfect move. Now, I am trying to feel what move do I use, I wouldn’t use Unleash, and they are def. not Keeping Their Cool.

3. I really don’t like various other Archetypes having the Workshop …. not every character wants to play a person tied to a place. Wouldn’t it be better to just add another “Take a move from another Archetype” advancement and if they wanted to take “Tools of the Trade,” they could?

4. Really curious on the playtest background on the alteration of starting move #’s. You used to get one move and choose one move. Now it is all over the place, my guess for reasoning is balance, but I would love to hear examples so I can get a good understanding.

Thanks to a little push from Sean Hess, reworked my basic moves, debt and MC moves to alignment with the US 1.1.

Updated most of the Archetype moves as well, still keeping with altered versions of Spellcasting and Spook for balance sake … and keeping in Seer with some alterations from an old version of US.

The real change, I am keeping is using an XP system closer to AW: Dark Ages over that of AW.

Need some feedback on this move for Urban Shadows.

Second Sight

Through your second sight, you are given an awareness that one of your foes is within a close vicinity. Choose one archetype (ie. Spectre, Vamp, Wizard, ect..); when you are within the vicinity of this archetype, the MC will make you aware of such “danger.”

I have been in chat with +Dylan Clayton and +Sean Hess, and Dylan brought up how hard it is for MC’s to keep track of so many moves.

I agree …. but at the same time. Unless you walk into EVERY Room and say “I keep an eye out” you will have no idea if a Vamp is there, which means your second sight is worthless.

I need to rework this move as it is just not working for Urban Shadows. I like the idea, just not the exact move.

My objective is that your loneliness does have a benefit.

———

Haunters tend to be roamers and loners, always drifting into situations that suit them the best. Many were betrayed or abandoned at some point in their life, making it more difficult for them to become close to others. When acting upon your ways as a loaner, roll+Heart. On a 10+, hold 2. On a 7-9, hold 1.

While alone and removing the company of others:

▪ Receive a +1 to all basic moves that do not require the need of other people

▪ You are harder to track making it difficult for the authorities or organizations to find you

If you are in disguise so that you can keep your true self unknown:

▪ You retreat one step above your roll.

▪ All debt against you is seen as 0 while in disguise.

▪ Once per session, you can pass off NPC debt to another, as they do not know your true self

1. Phantasms are the most creative of the Shades, passionate about their ideas and fantasies.

2. Poltergeists prefer a direct method of communication instead of manipulating people’s emotions.

Kyle Simons, is there anyway to combine Freedom Fighters and Golden Age Heroes?
