I’m looking towards running a game of Masks with the Beta PDF stuff from the Kickstarter (Unless the official PDF comes out in the next two weeks which I will throw money at like it burns my skin) and was just curious about one of the Nova Flares.

Under Constructs when you create them you can give them conditions to mark, but instead of the conditions that are listed in the playbooks there’s Broken, Stunned, Confused, Fragile and Weakened. I can’t find reference to these anywhere and I’m wondering if these are just the old condition names or if I’m missing something?

I’m curious…if you Lock a Label, can an Advance still be used to improve it?

Also, what happens if a Janus locks their Mundane, does that cause The Mask move to become useless?

Just pre-ordered the game (2 copies actually) without ever having played it.

Just pre-ordered the game (2 copies actually) without ever having played it. I’d been intrigued by the posts in this community for a while and finally decided to jump in. What finally sold me on it was Michael Miller’s testimonial in the project description.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knows when the PDF will be made available?

It looks like my group wants to do a superhero adventure, and I had hopes of using Masks rather than something like M&M.

Thank you all I managed to play with in Gen Con and more general thanks to you all for having so fantastic Con environment. My wife is not a gamer but she felt welcome in there and while I was on glued on gametable there was stuff for her to see and people were always friendly, helpful and always respectful. 🙂

I played teachers pet, welcome to h city and one in game on demand. So I managed to get my full taste of Masks. 🙂 First and second was with Bull named Betsy and the last was Deliquent named Jenny.

First one was absolutely fabulous game run by fantastic gm and perfect group. Could not be better start for my games. 🙂

My tables were awesome every time, the second one had loud room – which was bit hard to me as I’m not native speaker and stuff was hard to hear. This was a bit sad as the character stuff was hard to do. The game itself was concentrated around the npc who was hero turned ibto villain by personal loss – which was really cool and our Legacy made really nice call to help her out.

Third game today was in games on demand which is fantastic way to get into indie games. The gm was again fantastic and really in with the game. We had good time all the way and we managed to get even teen drama i to the four hour game. The game itself went through fight and after that the intro onto the call to join into superhero organization. The best part for me was the Legacy feeling bad about hurting my character, the talk with the important people in a personal life scene (mine was nice one with Jennys dad who was her solo guardian) and the fantastic ankwardness Jenny had with Nova who needs her power nullification powers – we had fun with pierce the mask questions which worked perfectly.

Second Masks game today – gave another go to Bull with similar backstory as yesterday – don’t know if re-using ideas…

So, latest session in a fun game I’ve been playing in: My Beacon (Hawkeye style archery + acrobatics) and the Legacy…

So, latest session in a fun game I’ve been playing in: My Beacon (Hawkeye style archery + acrobatics) and the Legacy (mythical object wielding hindu-deva descendant) are teaming up against a very powerful asura villain [think pseudo-darkseid, full on evil god], while the rest of the team are stopping meteors he was raining down on the city. My Beacon is, predictably, pretty worthless for a good amount of the fight – I do a lot of provoking and assessing, as she works as support, spending team in the form of distracting archery shots to help the Legacy.

Then the Legacy Goes Down Hard, and is taken out of the fight from conditions – but through discussion, convinces the GM to make a new custom move: Thus is born –

Take Up The Sword: When you are removed from battle, and a teammate takes up your weapon in battle, despite the odds, they roll + Savior. On a 10+, they can use two of your moves. On a 7-9 they can use one.

Nothing was stated explicitly for what a 6- would do

So my Beacon takes up his mythical weapon, which could only be wielded by those with a Pure Heart, and gets a 10+ – taking Fight The Good Fight, and Never Give Up, Never Surrender. She then proceeds to fight one on one with Darkseid-alike, finally forcing his retreat, getting knocked up and forcing herself to stand up, again and again, and does not fail a roll in like, 8-9 rolls.

Just as the smoke began to clear though, and she holds up an arm to celebrate, her vision gets blurry, and as her team lands, she collapses next to the Legacy, entirely drained and unconscious. Bam, now she’s in a coma, because it turns out using a literal god’s weapon when you aren’t at least part god is… well, kinda draining and dangerous.

But hey, she saved the city.

Next session the Doomed sorceress is going to take us on a JOURNEY INTO THE REALM OF MIND AND SPIRIT as they try to rescue my character’s soul from what will surely be an eventual death. And I’m helping the GM set up story points, as they traverse a world that is literally her soul.
