Well I was clearly so excited and overwhelmed at #Metatopia2017 that I totally forgo taking pictures. These are the only photos I have from my playtests of #NahualRPG (thanks to my girlfriend Ileana who took them, and thanks to all my playtesters, those who are here and those from other tables).

So, the way the angel hunting business work is a division of 3 main phases:

1) La Cacería (the hunting)

2) La Tablajería (the butchering)

3) El Expendio (the actual selling)

Before I have it all abstracted in 3 moves. But after some playtesting it comes to my attention that, even though we create the “Changarro” (a.k.a. the business), with some flavourful characteristics, we then forgot about it and went into other directions. Also some players felt like “lost”, not sure what it is that they characters should be doing.

This could be of course, my poor MCing in action. But I’ve also considered to give more depth to the 3 aforementioned phases of the angel hunting trade.

So, what about making each, an actual phase of the game, instead of just a move. Something kind of like what Blades in the Dark does. (Nightwitches also comes to mind)

What do you all think?

So, one of the Spanish words I’ve seen English speakers struggling with is “Despachadero”.

So, one of the Spanish words I’ve seen English speakers struggling with is “Despachadero”. So, even when that’s the name/term Edgar Clement uses in his universe, I’ve decided to change it for the English edition of the game. I still want to use a Spanish word, though. So I’m going for “Changarro”… my only question would be, is that easier? I hope so.

Dog of Xolotl

When you navigate your pack through the Underworld, roll with NAHUALITY. On a 10+, hold 1. On a 7-9, hold 1, but you also encounter a guardian. On a fail, you encounter a guardian.

You can spend 3 holds at any time to find whatever you are looking for.

Hey everyone, here is a couple more for the Tlacuache, I would like to know if they are different enough and if one is obviously more “powerful” than the other one or not:

ILLUSION

When you want to fool someone senses to make them do what you want, roll with NAHUALITY. On a hit, they fall for it. On a 7-9, pick one:

• The effect is short.

• The effect is partial.

• Mark stress.

ESPEJISMO

When you transform, roll with NAHUALITY. On a 10+, you get 4 holds. On a 7-9 you get 2. You can spend them at any time to alter other people’s perception, making them see you:

• Like someone in specific (2 holds).

• Like any person in general: an old man, a young lady, etc (1 hold)

• The mirage will stay in their memories (1 holds).

• The mirage won’t affect the persons you picked (1 hold).

• The mirage will extend to electronic devices: video, photos, etc. (1 hold).

On a fail, you still get 1 hold. But if you use it the mirage will have a flaw or deficiency. The Marakame will tell you what.

PLAY POSSUM

When you play dead to avoid a conflict, mark all your harm boxes. Your body will look dead—you won’t even have a pulse. They can do any harm to your body, tear it apart, burn it, etc. It doesn’t matter, whenever you choose to, you’ll wake up completely regenerated. Clear all your harm boxes.
