I love the Netrunner card game, so I picked this up. I was expecting it to be an art book, but it turned out to be more of a world guide. Lots of detail and text on the game world, characters, corporations, etc.

Prolly a bit brighter than the default Sprawl assumptions, but plenty to mine for folks who want more grist for their mill.

Quick combat drone question: If a Driver is controlling a drone in combat, would the drone use the Driver’s Meat to Mix It Up or Synth as if he was in a vehicle and using Second Skin?

It feels like Synth would be used in that case but I could not find it specified anywhere.

Only had two players because the other two dropped out. But that was okay, because making characters took us a little longer than I thought it would.

The Mission I outlined was probably a little intense for first session with only two players. They emerged bruised and bloody, but successful.

The PC’s were an Infiltrator and a Fixer.

Most things went smoothly, but I would be interested in a couple rulings / opinions.

Would you let the players gain an XP for staking 3 cred on the mission, if they have the ‘Financial” directive? It seems to fulfill the directive in a very literal way, but doesn’t offer much in the way of story growth. Also could be a way to too-easily milk XP.

This might just come down to style, but how often would you let an Infiltrator roll for Covert Entry? My players were moving back and forth through this apartment complex, and it seems like he rolled every time they went into a new area or encountered security? Is that legit? Again, seems like it could be milked for a bunch of [gear] or easy ways to take down guards with hold.

What are some easy ways to handle it when the Fixer’s jobs are disasters? My fixer failed the roll last night for his gigs. A lot of them seem almost like fodder for complete missions, but seeing as it happens, potentially more than one, every session, I need to figure out ways to incorporate them into the existing session and flow.

Anyway, we had an awesome time! I also almost killed both of them with a shotgun-toting security drone.

I’m wondering how people use maps in their games.

I’m wondering how people use maps in their games. I’ve always been very reluctant to draw out maps for my players as I feel they have the potential to stifle their imagination of an environment. They can be very useful though, especially when describing combat positions.

I’m thinking of putting together a world map for my players to give them a frame of reference as to where they are at in their sprawl. However it would not be the traditional ‘top-down’ birds-eye map.

Whenever we play cyberpunk games I like to emphasize how vertical the the city is. I like it when gravity plays a large role as one of the dangers the players face on the daily.

I’m thinking of drawing up a sideview map so that my players know how high or low up in the city they are at any given time since it seems to be a common thing we discuss at our table.

Thoughts on maps? Any map-making freeware recommendations?
