And now a question about Debts!

And now a question about Debts!

And now a question about Debts! Is there anything official on how multiple Debts should effect a Refuse the Debt roll? If someone is willing to spend multiple Debts to get something to happen, would you just give the roll a -1 per extra Debt being leveraged?

Also, any thoughts on adding some things to the Debts list more akin to Strings from Monsterhearts? Seems like being able to force them to Keep their Cool to do something would fit really well, as would effecting their rolls against you. Would give more reason for Debts to be collected, as they provide protection against people, as well as make you more dangerous to them; you owing the local Immortal who runs the mob a few debts is going to make it a lot harder for you to hurt him, because everyone knows the position you’re in. At the same time, if he owes you, things become a little easier, because people don’t worry as much about people who have done them favors.

Another round of question time!

Another round of question time!

Another round of question time! Can a player take a Corruption move from another archetype that refers to the archetype-specific ability (Fae magic, Wolf transformation, etc) to gain that ability? Or are those particular moves off-limits to “cross class”?

Thanks in advance!

New question!

New question!

New question! So, I’m starting up a game, and I’ve got a few Wolves. One of them hasn’t taken Bloodhound, and I just wanted to clarify their Corruption move.

Is hunting someone basically just looking for someone specific in the case that a Wolf does it? Does there have to be some sort of aggression or negative emotion behind it?

And what does a Wolf whose hunting without Bloodhound have at their disposal to actually do? Is it all just Fiction for them, with being able to smell if someone was in a place, and being fast in chasing them down if they’re running and such?

Thanks in advance!

I’m surprised Penny Dreadful hasn’t been mentioned more in this community; it’s like the perfect example of a US game set in Victorian London: take a Vessel, an Aware, an Oracle, a Vampire (more than one, in fact!), a Hunter who turns out to be a Wolf, an Expert, and an Immortal, throw them into the teeming London underworld, and lo!, what emerges is a sometimes dark, sometimes kitschy, but always entertaining story of corruption and redemption.

Not sure if this has been said anywhere – but I didn’t get a chance (I was out – my own fault not the team’s) to increase my pledge to include the new book physically.

Are the team using KS’s survey process or something like BackerKit which allows for pledges to be increased after the KS is over?

Really surprised no one has posted that we are only $400 away from maps for every city guide!

Question about the change from XP to Faction.

Question about the change from XP to Faction.

Question about the change from XP to Faction. Is there a recommended way to deal with the various moves that would let you mark XP?

Like, the Aware for instance with their Intimancy Move, or “One More for the Books” and “In Too Deep”. Just marking a 2nd time for the same faction wouldn’t really help in the new system, so, should I just go with “mark any Faction” in place of “mark XP” until we get some new Archetype sheets?

So, after looking at the new moves for a couple days, I have a couple thoughts…

1. Is the “keep an eye out” move gone? That is something my players will ask about. It seems that it would be good to have a move to ask about the environment. Sure a player can “let it out” and do something super natural to sense the area, but the price is very high. I hope it makes it back in.

2. For “let it out”, there is no longer the option to take harm on a 7-9 result? With how important it is to manage corruption, it seems like ” let it out” would only get used when times were dire? Is that the intention? It seems like giving the players the choice of consequences suffered is better for the drama.

3. More of a system question. How do you do mundane but important things? If you need to open a locked safe, what move is that? How about sneaking around a building? Fixing a car that won’t start? Clearing a jam an in a gun? I fully admit my experience with apocalypse games is small (I mostly come from a much more rigid background, as does my group) and I am sure to be meet with these questions when I put urban shadows in front of them.

Thanks for the help!
