The “Coup de Grace”, Finn Balor’s (and others) jumping double foot stomp.

How in the hell does the attacker protect his target when doing this move? I’m watching the Kenny Omega / Kazuchika Okada match, and this move comes into play, and I cannot for the life of me work out how this move gets pulled off without causing real injury. What’s the trick? What am I missing?

I’m doing a full season of WWW for the Gauntlet Hangouts.

Wrestle All the Things

The gaming I’m most excited about is Gauntlet League Wrestling.

Because I dug World Wide Wrestling so much, I’ve set up a full season online as part of the Gauntlet Hangouts. I hope I can do it justice. Luckily I found a fan video by the Hooded Luchadore covering what’s gone on in GLW recently:

I haven’t been watching much wrestling since, well, the release of WWW:II really. It was really refreshing to enjoy a show and yell at the TV.

Admissions: we did skip the ROH title match and kinda snark on the various tag gauntlets, but my boy EVIL had a strong showing at least! And then starting with the KUSHIDA/Takahashi through to the end, I felt like every match topped the last while being it’s own standalone thing.

And Omega/Okada was brutal, just brutal.

Anyway. If you have a chance, check out the show! It’s worth it!

What would an Apocalypse World Wide Wrestling mashup look like?

One of the players brought up an issue that we struggled with last time, which was the Hardcore’s built in Move. The issue was that there was really no pay off to not using the move, so it was always used.

My suggestion this time was to remove the part where the Hardcore can just make any match “hardcore”, instead he has to add that stipulation somehow (e.g. Cut a Promo).

In my head I compared it to the Veteran who gets 1 Momentum each match, while the Hardcore get 2 Momentum each hardcore match. I figured it should be used about half the time then and with the added “roll for it” risk it feels ok.

Thoughts, other suggestions?
