Anyone out there ever seen Shinsuke Nakamura at a live event?  People talk about his magnetic charisma and presence, but it’s not quite coming through the camera for me.  I still think he’s awesome, no worries there, but I wonder if he’s one of those persons that feels even more amazing when you see him in person.

So, the internet reviewer “The Spoony One” is live-tweeting Raw as usual, and comments, “IT’S MY WAIFU DARTH EMMA” (yes, he’s being sarcastic), and that got me thinking.

How in the world has the WWE not tried to do a “Sexy Jedi/Sith Ladies” (with a nod and a wink to avoid copyright issues) photo shoot with their women wrestlers?  I mean, Paige as a Sith Lord, that’s a nobrainer, right?  How has this not been done yet?

Hell, if I could draw, I’d try and draw this up myself.  If we can get Disney Princess / Star Wars mashups, why not this?

Has there ever been a wrestler anywhere, Japan or otherwise, male or female, that used Aikido as part of their in-ring style or as part of their gimmick?

For those unfamiliar with it, Aikido is a martial art that focuses heavily on defense, with lots of counter-moves, turning someone’s attack into a throw, lock, takedown, or grapple, often with a lot of circular motion and momentum-redirection.  It’s often portrayed as a “pacifist” art, although you can do someone a lot of harm with this style if you know what you’re doing.

Since it’s so grappling-throw intensive, it seems like it would be great for adaptation into a pro-wrestling context.  Has anyone ever done this?

Heck, if I ever get to play Nathan Paoletta’s awesome game in the near future, I may make this a cornerstone of my character’s schtick.

Is anyone else out there a fan of Al Snow and Steve Blackman?  I always felt that they were under-appreciated during the period of 2000-2002 when I was following the WWE near-religiously.  

Just watched the Shibata/Ishii match from Wrestle Kingdom 10.  Oh wow, that was BEAUTIFUL.  That was like the platonic ideal of two tough guys brawling and taking every shot they give each other, until one of them finally breaks.  The “now it’s my turn to sit down and take your best kick” sequence was especially amazing.
