Last of the three fan Playbooks and the end of my spamming of the Fan Made Content section for now. The Paragon was inspired by another fanmade playbook and I feel with touch ups has its own footing and focus compared to where it was before the changes and clarifications. Like the other two playbooks went through and added some Player/GM tools and inspiration that led to the Paragon. As always, eager for criticism and feedback to get these playbooks to the best and most playable form they can possibly be. Here’s the Paragon 1.2

The second of the fan Playbooks, The Inspired, is the one I was most proud of. With some touch ups here and there along with additional clarification and player/GM support I still feel it’s the best of the three I’ve made if only because it fills a traditional Roleplaying game role in a game that askews these sorts of cliches. Here it is, the Inspired 1.2. As always, eager for criticism and feedback.

Had some time this week to edit and implement all the great feedback people had for the fan-Playbooks I rolled out a bit ago. Also took the time to add some notes on what inspired the Playbooks, clarify some abilities and offer more GM support for each of the ones I felt were worth keeping around. Which translates to “dropped the Otaku for now” simply because…I wrote it mostly for a joke. Still really iffy on the Infiltrator so that’ll be the first of the three I repost. So here it is, Infiltrator 1.2. As always, eager for criticism and feedback.

Finally got some time and inspiration to work on this. Another fan Playbook called The Inspired. The Playbook deals with faith, belief and is as close to a “healer/buffer” as I think would work in Masks. As always, critique and criticism is always welcome.

Since the Infiltrator survived its first round of criticism, figured I’d share the other two Playbooks I’ve been working on. The first is the Otaku, or Fanboy, which is all about that one person you knew who liked a thing a little too much.

With everyone else sharing custom Playbooks I guess I’ll share one I’ve been working on for a while.

With everyone else sharing custom Playbooks I guess I’ll share one I’ve been working on for a while. This one is the Infiltrator. A lot of warning should come with this if people are interested in running it at a table. Betrayal and backstabbing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea so make sure it’s something your table wants. The idea is certainly geared more to a reluctant spy as opposed to an antagonistic one but I’ve tried to give options for both.

Feedback is greatly apprecited. Here’s a link for it.

So long ago I posted here to ask for some players for a play-by-post game, and got a pretty immediate response.

So long ago I posted here to ask for some players for a play-by-post game, and got a pretty immediate response. Felt that it’s been long enough I can throw it out there for other people to peek in after all this time. To give some over-view and just some general ranting. We started out with seven players. Newborn, Janus, Legacy, Protegee, Transformed, Bull and Doomed. The Protegee dropped out pretty quickly as I sort of expected one of the seven would so that brought us to six.

The nature of play by post makes it difficult to do things in “sessions” as the medium is slower so I’ve taken to split things into “Issues”. More self contained periods of time where the players have an over-arching goal that comes about from the narrative in an, I hope, organic way. Started, traditionally, with a super villain fight and they wrecked it with some really solid rolls. Spun out from there into a “rescue sick party member” story that culminated in some pretty decently high stakes fights.

Also to facilitate some movement in play by post, I have taken to doing End of Issue Moves along with the end of session moves. These are moves tailored to the individual story of the characters to reflect some passage of time or to deal with issues that might be important enough to take care of but not so important that we need to break the narrative flow of the game to worry about. For example, the Doomed got into a large fight with her father. Instead of deal with that fight in the game, I had the Doomed roll to see how the fight went and let them narrate it when we started Issue 2 and then took over the consequences of that roll for where the player started when the game started up again. Basically the moves are intended, and seemed to work well, to clear up the lag time that happens in play by posts.

We lost our Janus along the way, but replaced it with an Outsider. We’re now in Issue 2 and I highly recommend any one curious to take a look in. They’re all wonderful writers, I am beyond grateful for getting a team of creative and enthusiastic players who enjoy the spirit of the game as much if not more than myself.
