Not sure if this should go in the Skins section, so apologies beforehand. I’m just curious about what other people do when making Skins regarding the total number of moves, the starting moves, and the advancements.

Generally I try to have somewhere around six to eight moves total for each Skin I make. That might drop to five if the moves are really wordy or have multiple parts. I also try to limit myself to one, or at most two “mandatory moves”. Again, that number depends both on how long they are and how well they capture what I want the Skin to be about.

How often have you seen players (including yourself) take the gang advancement? I’m tossing around the idea of dropping it in favor of something else.

Sex Move

After having sex, answer the following questions:

– Is this the first time you’ve had sex with this person?

– Is this the first time you’ve had sex in this location?

– Did you pursue your partner?

Take a String on your partner for each “yes” response. If you would take three Strings, mark experience instead.

Additionally, if your partner is Rat, Ox, Dragon, or Monkey, you both carry 1 forward. If your partner is Rabbit, Horse, Sheep, or Rooster, they give you the Condition Brash, Predictable, Uncaring, or Schemer, their choice.

When someone asks you for advice, tell them what you think they should do. They take a String on you and carry 1 forward if they follow your suggestion. When they complete their goal, roll with Dark. On a 7+, you reap the benefits of their actions instead of them, and on a 10+, you’re in a position that prevents immediate retaliation.

I’m trying to decide between two versions of a move I’m working on.

Version A:

You can never throw anything away. When you search your collection of odds and ends for something specific, roll with Dark. On a 10+, you find the item quickly and take +1 forward when using it. On a 7-9, choose one or the other. On a 6-, the MC will name an item belonging to someone else. Mark XP when you add it to your collection.

Version B:

You never throw anything away. When you search your collection of odds and ends for a specific item, roll with Dark. On a 10+, pick two and on a 7-9, pick one:

– it’s found quickly;

– it’s perfect for the job;

– it’s actually valuable.

On a 6-, the MC will point out a nearby item. Mark XP when you add it to your collection.

I’m not sure if the move needs the 6- part. Normally I don’t include them, but I really wanted to drive home the point that on a miss you need to add something to your collection. Something that will cause problems.

I need some help cleaning up the wording of a move.

I need some help cleaning up the wording of a move. This is for The Chimera, a Skin that is meant to explore what it means to be bi- or multiracial. The Chimera picks two “Bloodlines” during character creation, representing their mixed parentage.

Duel Loyalty

You belong to two gangs; one for each of your Bloodlines. When you publicly display how you are a real member of one of your Bloodlines, you may manipulate an NPC of that bloodline as if you had Hot 3. If you do, gain the Condition half-blood [Bloodline] for your other Bloodline.

While you have the Condition half-blood [Bloodline], you manipulate NPCs of that bloodline as if you had Hot -3. —–

The idea here is that by acting more like one half of their parentage, The Chimera is alienating themselves from their other bloodline. Hence the Condition half-blood that other characters will take advantage of.

The wording is messy, so, can anyone help me clean it up and clarify it?
