I ran a game of AW2 this weekend. It turned into a game of Mad Max meets da Packers. All the cannibals that lived in what was left of Green Bay were known as cheese heads, due to them worshiping Vince Lombardi and thinking that a person’s head is filled with cheese.

While our players were trying to get through a mall, the cannibals were jumping from the roof/ceiling onto the groups vehicles. One of our new players asked, “What are they doing?” Another player said, “The Lambeau Leap.”

Our brainer ended up convincing the battle babe to help rescue the brainer’s brother from the cannibals. The chopper was just trying to keep his gang from losing their shit while being besieged by the cannibals and the uber rednecks that were after our skinner.

Twas a great evening.

Hey all.

Hey all.

Hey all. Thanks for the couple of people who chimed in for the Battlebabe. I’m starting to work on compiling, finally, these words of wisdom into something that should be easy to hand out at the start of a game. Next up I’d like to hear your advice about the Gunlugger.

What is something all Gunluggers should try to do in game? What are some good goals for the most violent person in Apocalypse World? What are some of your best stories of Gunluggers in your game?

Thanks everyone who chimed in with advice for people playing Skinners.

Thanks everyone who chimed in with advice for people playing Skinners. I’d like to hear about what you would suggest for folks that want to play BATTLEBABE. What are some good goals for a Battlebabe? What should a Battlebabe try to do in game?

The little bit of research and personal playing I got to do as a BB led me to understand that they are great for causing and getting out of trouble. BB’s can take a drastic stand on something and their +3 cool will get their butts out of any trouble that comes their way. When I played a BB I was in charge of security and when a riot started I walked into the middle of it, said “This stops now or you have to go through me” and using my cool to Go Aggro, I put the whole gang on their heels.

I also ran a game where the BB was in control of the only water supply in the area. She had the only green lawn in the desert and the Hardholder needed her to let the holding have the water. The Hardholder was a bastard and the BB was not going to back down from him. The HH threw just about everything he had at the BB and by the end, most of the holding was destroyed and the BB was still there.

BB’s are great “heroes of the apocalypse”. You can take on just about any threat, as long as you are clever. You may not beat it, but you can survive it. Be willing to take an extreme stand on something. Good or bad. That’s where I believe you’ll find the most fun.

First off, thanks to everyone that helped out with ideas for the Chopper, Brainer, and Hocus.

First off, thanks to everyone that helped out with ideas for the Chopper, Brainer, and Hocus. This week I’d like to discuss ideas on how a PLAYER can make the most out of the SKINNER playbook. What are some moves that you just love to use? What are some goals that Skinners should go for? What can a Skinner do in game that really gets the most out of the playbook?

Hi all, I’m working on putting together advice for the players of Apocalypse World.

Hi all, I’m working on putting together advice for the players of Apocalypse World.

Hi all, I’m working on putting together advice for the players of Apocalypse World. I’m hoping to compile ideas that helps point players in the right direction on how to get the most out of their playbook of choice. At the behest of Meguey Baker I’m going to stick with the 1st ed playbooks that are transitioning to 2e for now. The final product will be a word doc that trims the fat and hopefully will end up being maybe a page per playbook with snippets of advice. I will credit everyone who contributes and just ask that folks pass this around in hopes to help make everyone’s game better. I’m going to put up 3 playbooks per week, till we get through them all.

So with that being said, lets get this party started. Using an advanced method of picking one at random, what advice would you give someone who wants to play a BRAINER? How does the player make them awesome? What can the player do to make thing interesting? What amazing things have you seen Brainers do in your game?

I’ve a question for Meguey Baker and Vincent Baker.

I’ve a question for Meguey Baker and Vincent Baker.

I’ve a question for Meguey Baker and Vincent Baker. In the book for 2e AW, how much advice, if any, will be in there for players to play their playbook to it’s peak potential?

I know I’ve read advice for MC’s on how to help each playbook shine, but will there be something along the lines of…

“The Savvyhead gets the most milage by making himself useful to his fellows. Start getting favors on people as you build stuff for them, and don’t be afraid to cash in on those.”

or

“The Show is a wild card that other PC’s are going to want to keep happy. Use that to your advantage. You need something, just lean on your leash a little bit. You have one hell of a carrot in your pocket, and be sure to let them know it.”

I was considering trying to compile a list of advice for players, from my own experience and from anyone else who wants to help, and then put it online for anyone to read to help players get into the game a little easier, but before I do that, I wanted to check and see if you guys did that already 🙂

Once again, thanks for all the work you do on this game and for being so open to field questions and being really awesome to the community.
