Hello!

Hello!

Hello! The Gauntlet has a new free issue of our zine, Codex, available on our website. This one is called Chrome and features a starter for The Sprawl called #chrome_rot.exe (written by the talented Fred Bednarski), as well as a set of tables for cosmetic cyberware. It’s completely free (just follow the link!) and if you enjoy it, please consider supporting us on Patreon!

Hi!

Hi!

Hi! The Gauntlet has recently launched a new podcast called Comic Strip AP, and we have a lot of PbtA stuff on the menu. The link below is to our G+ community where we post and discuss new episodes. Join the community, take a listen, and tell us what you think!

Here are more details…

What is Comic Strip AP?

Comic Strip AP refers to both the name of our actual play podcast, as well as the specific method for producing those actual plays.

Rather than record and release a 2-3 hour game session with three or more participants, the “comic strip” method involves two participants recording and releasing approximately 15 minutes a week. It is meant to be an analogue to old serialized comics, such as Prince Valiant or those found at the back of Dragon Magazine.

The “comic strip” method has the following advantages:

-A more intimate, focused story, since there are only two participants.

-A higher-quality story, since the participants have a week to think about upcoming scenes.

-Easier to manage from a production standpoint.

-Easier for listeners to fit into their busy schedules.

Which games are you playing?

We currently have four active APs. Judd Karlman & Richard Rogers are playing Sorcerer, Tim B & Noah Jay-Bonn are playing Dogs in the Vineyard, Fraser Simons & YG Mitchell are playing Young At Heart, and David LaFreniere and myself are playing Dungeon World.

We have the following games lined-up for the future: Cthulhu Dark, Monster of the Week, Don’t Rest Your Head, D&D 5E, The Sprawl, and more!

What if my friend and I want to make our own Comic Strip AP?

Easy! Get in touch with me. You will be asked to produce a test episode. Once I am satisfied with your test episode (with sound quality being my no. 1 concern), you can begin producing regular episodes. Once you have at least three complete episodes, we will launch your AP!

Here is a Hangout we did related to participating in Comic Strip AP. I highly recommend you watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4FumAYU1I4

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone! The Gauntlet gaming community has put together a trial issue of a little RPG fanzine we’re calling Codex. The first issue, Blood, features some cool stuff for Urban Shadows and Dungeon World, as well as some original art. It’s completely free at our website, linked below.

Also, if you have any interest in writing something for Codex, get in touch with me via Hangouts chat.

Enjoy!

Richard Rogers is on the road to Origins, so he asked me to tell you about the newest episode of +1 Forward! This one features Gregor Vuga from Red Moose Games, and it’s a terrific conversation. I myself have recently played Sagas of the Icelanders for the first time, and this episode does a great job highlighting some of the things I thought were special about the experience.

A mystery: why didn’t Rich call his AP character a PLUScarl instead of a huscarl?

Also, a question: in Apocalypse World, how do you just, you know, shoot that guy? We have the answers!
