The fellow playing the Woman in our game isn’t sure where to take her. I shared my perception that the female rolebooks are good at setting the agenda for the game, and then pushing the male rolebooks in pursuit of those agendas, but he’s not really sure where he wants to go. Any advice for him?

We started The Barding Saga last night (an AP is coming!).
We started The Barding Saga last night (an AP is coming!). The Matriarch is a widow, once married to a goði named Njáll. He sold his title to another man named Njáll, Njáll Snorrisson. No one’s happy about this, and we heavily implied that Snorrisson had coerced Njáll into selling his title through legal and strictly-honorable but nonetheless loathsome means. I’m not sure how, though. What do you think happened?

I like the tri-fold playbooks used in Apocalypse World, so I made these for the Sagas of the Icelanders games I’m going to run. There’s a rolebook for each of the roles, a basic moves books, and then fronts books for each of the six gods.

There was a good bit of empty space after I added the most crucial stuff, so I tried to fill it with some other relevant bits from the book. Sometimes there was still a good bit of empty space, but I figured that could be useful for notes and such.
I haven’t playtested these at all yet. There may be errors. Some of the stuff that I thought might be helpful might not be quite so helpful after all. I’d say it’s probably pretty likely that I’ll be making some changes once I do use them in actual play. If you see something that I’ve missed or gotten wrong, though, please comment below so I can fix it.

I got Giulianna Lamanna reading Njáls Saga as we were waiting for the PDF to come out. She’s about half-way through it now, and totally wants to play a lawyer like Njáll, and eventually become Lawspeaker. I think she probably wants to play a woman, too. Would that make her quest harder? What sort of opposition do you think she’d realistically face?
