Ever since reading Masks (and with all the talk of the Hulu series) I wanted to run a “Runaways”-Oneshot/Mini-campaign.

Anything else I should think about?

(SPOILER for the premise of Runaways Vol.1 following)

Premise:

“You knew each other from somewhat regular get togethers of your families when the grownups did some boring meetings. Somehow you got into a secret place and all discovered your parents were sacrificing someone. You barely fled the ritual before your evil parents could kill you by using your newly discovered abilities, now your only chance seems to stick together as a team. What do you do?”

I am also thinking about changing the “When our team first came together…” questions to also define more of “The Pride” (since this will probably be the main antagonist for the game)

Anything else?

Another idea would be to start the game with the kids trying to escape and letting them choose their playbooks, abilities and moves while doing so, but that might require some more planning for the setup.

I’d rather ask “what did you do to X’s parents to help you escape?” type questions at the start of the game.

A question about the Janus’ “The Mask” move.

A question about the Janus’ “The Mask” move.

When a Janus uses “The Mask” near the end of a session to exchange his Mundane for his Mask-Label, is this exchange “permanent”, but subject to label shifts as usual or will it only last the rest of the session?

Just asking if the “time passes” that probably follows the session will have to use the “new” Mundane label then.

Has anyone had experience with characters that are absent for a longer time than just a few sessions?

Our group wasn’t that big to start with (2 players at first, then 3 now back to 2 plus me) and rather than not playing for a few months till the third player is available again, I’m wondering if I can do some sort of “off-camera gaming” by weekly love letters that are posted in the thread we are using to coordinate our sessions.

I’m thinking of letting our Nova wander off to some part of the current campaign arc (which one will probably be his decision in the first letter) that the other pc probably won’t explore anyway by weeky love letters.

Any comments/hints/…?

How would you handle latecomers in a group?

I got two possible groups, but for both not all players who could play would be available for the first story. So if later (in session 2 or 3) another player joins the team, should we do another “When the team first met” round of questions? What about the Relationships (which would probably be already filled at session 0/1)?

Anyone already had this problem?
