For my first 3 sessions i forgot to ask questions from the psychic maelstorm.

For my first 3 sessions i forgot to ask questions from the psychic maelstorm. We established how it looks for them but it hasn’t gotten into their mind. I have to start this tomorrow. Should i just ask them stuff or give them a bit of a preamble like

“You know on how you open your brain you get this information? Well the psychic maelstorm also reads you and want’s to know certain stuff. It’s weird like that” ?

  1. do it with love letters.  Write a note to each character telling them to roll one of their stats, and on a hit then one of the things on the list happens and on a miss, 2 happen.  If you make sure the majority of the options are answering questions you’ll get the info you need without the players realizing you forgot to do something.

  2. Love letters are great. Just asking is fine too.

“Hey Bis, you’ve been opening your brain to the maelstrom a lot. What does it know about you now that you wish it didn’t?”

“Shine, ever since that last blow-up, it’s like there’s a thread twisting in your mind. You can’t help thinking about (situation the MC wants the maelstrom to know about). What’s that like for you and what are you obsessing over?”

  3. ^_^

It’s also totally legit to say things like”

“So the maelstrom. It hits each of your brains a little differently, right? So like for Bis it’s this weird library full of opening and closing doors and you keep seeing glimpses of passageways, but there’s books and tables and stuff in the way. And there’s rats eating the books.

Shine, what was your imaginary friend as a child?…Yeah, it’s like that. Like the world that Little Cricket would live in, in pastels with odd clockwork in random places.”
