  1. It depends totally on the fiction.

Fire can be indirect (fire while moving, suppression fire not organized), direct (target is on sights, fire while in cover), or concentrated (entire squad is firing at target).

Then you roll d6 equal to the weapon used, and you score hits crossing the results on the table.

Moves and condition modify VOF, as listed.

Right now it’s not really perfect, but if I start with direct and then modify as the fiction and the moves say, it works.

  2. Thanks. I think I’m seeing it now. (Version 2.1 I’m not seeing instructions, but the earlier versions I see has it.)

    Let’s feed on some fiction–

Commando: I charge the ridge, I know there are few guys pinned on the other side. I rush it and open up with my SMG.

MC: Great, Sounds like an Assault, Roll’em.

    Commando: 11.

MC: The ridge is this snowy, mud covered thing, but you scramble and get over the ridge. You have a good line on the enemy. You fire off several rounds before they can react.  Make an Attack Move. It’s just you and the ground is a bit sloggy still, so they are under Direct fire.

Commando: Ok, my SMG had a 2d.

    Dice: 3,5

Commando: (looking at the graph) Thats 1S and 1 W

MC: (Looks at the Strength chart– he really didn’t have to roll, but rolling is fun so he won’t mention it, NPC unit has 3 strength those two hits has “put it down.” )

Ok, yeah you rake them with bullets. Three guys, one is shot up good and is now unconscious, the other two are scrambling away from you, scared. One even dropped his gun. (That sounds pretty put-down to me).
