So what Playbook would you really like to try but haven’t had the chance to?

So what Playbook would you really like to try but haven’t had the chance to?

I would like to play (in no particular order)

The Hardholder – because having so much power is tempting. I like beeing in charge in RPGs

The Hoarder – i can’t figure out what they really are about without seeing it in play

The Operator – a mix of Hardholder and Hoarder. I want to see how it ticks and i like beeing in charge

The Juggernaut – GIANT! MECH! Especially a biomechanical one that requires peoples blood to work. Giant machine of death that requires a sacrifice? Yes please! Awesome moral questions.

  1. I’ve played an Angel in a one-shot and in an ongoing game that unfortunately fizzled after two sessions, so I still feel like I haven’t really played one.  I hope to rectify that in the very near future.

I recently got the Solace as part of the Epimas bundle.  On the one hand, it’s a Hot book, and I’m all about Hot.  But it’s one of those odd books that can distort a whole game by its presence, so I’m not sure about putting it into play.

I like the idea of playing an Operator with the rest of the PCs as the crew.

And a Hoarder!  And, and, and…

  2. Goodness, the Hardholder is a total trap for folks that like to be in charge. A beautiful, beautiful trap.

Right now, the one I most want to play is the Marmot.

  3. I am up for playing any of them. To be honset, I see a lot of potential in choosing a playbook right as play starts without planning in advance. I am really captivated by group world creation and surprise playbook selection is part of this, for me.

    But Marmot is groovy!

  4. Meguey Baker – Goodness, the Hardholder is a total trap for folks that like to be in charge. A beautiful, beautiful trap.

    Fucking too right.

Now that I’ve read it, I’m really looking forward to playing a Solace some day.

  5. I’d dig playing almost any playbook I haven’t. Solace is the new hotness and I’m of course very excited about it, but it also reminds me that I really want to dig into a Quarantine in a full campaign to use the remembering-the-past move a lot.

  6. All of them except the Gunlugger, Hocus and Quarantine. But only because those are disqualified for being playbooks that I’ve played before.

    They’re ALL amazing.

  7. The Touchstone and the Quarantine are two I really want to try out that I haven’t yet. I’m not sure if I’d want a permanent Weird highlight Quarantine or one cut off from the maelstrom.

  8. Oh gracious, the Quarantine is next on my list of “can I play this now?’ It just depends on what playbooks Vincent Baker puts on the table. That’s a really unsubtle hint, yo 🙂

  9. Sure – the Solace carries the illusion of hope and a peaceful future, but will complicate your life in cool and interesting ways. Of course, Vincent Baker might want to give a different teaser or refute mine altogether.

  10. And right now i am thinking about design space for a two person playbook. Two characters that are so connected that they share “one” playbook. Maybe not conjected twins but…
