So I started an Operator in an AW game on Monday night, run by Brendan Conway and joined by Christopher Grau and Matt Capizzi . I’ve been pondering how the first session transpired, and I think it’ll take me a few more sessions to start feelin’ the playbook. I’ve played a Gunlugger, Touchstone and Brainer before, and I was pretty much hooked right away each time.

  1. Operators mean stuff happens but at least you have money (sorta like hard holders and hocuses). Your benefit is tons of barter (it’ll add up fast) but you always are trying to make up for botched gigs. I’m running a game where after a seSsion the operator decided that he was tired of his obligation always wanting to cause trouble, emotional consequences ensue.

  2. The Operator is an incredibly effective conflict generator, and my feeling is that with all the crap they trigger, one must almost have an even tougher skin than the lone wolf types, because things will frequently go sideways, and it will be the Operator putting people on the line.
