Hey, Michael Sands, one of my friends asked me what to do when he’s doing his duty as a Keeper and one of the players asks him a question that is not on the list of the investigate a mystery move. Any hints?

  1. Either just answer it, if it would be easy to work out (and don’t count it as one of the uses), or say they can’t work that answer out (if they couldn’t).

  2. What I do, following an advice in the AW book: answer the closest question on the list.

The players can ask whatever they want, but as an MC my only obligation is to answer the questions on the list.

  3. My new course of action (after 4 more demos I did at a con) is this

    – if she ask a question on the list (more or less) make her roll the dice

    – if she asks any other questions, ask her how she found / will find out it then answer

  4. Usually my answer to questions not on the list is “I don’t know…” then me asking them the question they just asked me! Players (especially those new to the game) get a big kick out of that!
