  1. What is a Blood Bond? Is this when you drink of someone’s blood or is it more like a sire thing with vampires? 🙂 (I learn so much from these posts about WoD)

  2. When a vampire partakes of another vampires blood, they become attached to them. The more they do it, they are unable to resist the call of that  vampire.

  3. Hmmmm. What about this custom move.

When you partake of another vampire’s blood, mark experience and give them a Debt against you.

It’s quick and dirty, but it tempts them to come back for more for that XP but gives the one being fed hold over them in the form of Debts.

  4. Steve Moore, had  a little min/maxing with blood bonds last night as a way to get extra xp. Should it be mechanically limited or as the MC should I just limit it?

  5. There is a lot of stuff that can be min maxed, especially if you engage other playbooks.  I would just smack it down from an MC side.  Or add risk and harsh outcomes for failure.  Can’t think of the references off hand, outside doing yard work.  Bad things, besides the RP of the players being closer and closer related, could include unwilling sharing of thoughts between them, debts passed on through blood to the sire, etc.

Personally, I would ask them, would you ever be foolish enough to do this in a WoD Vampire game?  If not, what is the mechanic that we are missing to punish you for taking this too lightly?

  6. I like the base of the move, but right now, my thoughts are to make if you Blood Bond more than 3 times, you lose your character as an NPC to the person you are blood bonded too. This will work on NPC”s as well.

Just deciding if it is needed, but such a mechanic does align it closer to that of VtM.

  7. Was talking to Chris Riexax and he brought up a good point that the Sabbat blood point on a practically weekly basis. He agreed that the post 3 rule was a fine idea and a severe penalty is a fine idea, but wanted to leave wiggle room for not losing your character.

  8. Aaron Friesen, would love your thoughts on this conversation as an ex-WoD player. Is the penalty needed? Too harsh? Not harsh enough? What should I do about Sabbat campaigns?

    ○ Blood Bond: One of the most wondrous and terrible properties of Vampire blood is its ability to enslave nearly any being who drinks of it. Each sip of a particular Vampire’s blood gives the Vampire in question a greater emotional hold over the drinker. The blood bond is most commonly used to ensnare mortals and ghouls, but Vampire can bind each other as well. When another Vampire partakes in your blood, both vampires mark experience and you write down 2 Debts against them. The toll of enslavement gains momentum with every exchange of blood take. As a PC, if you blood bond more than 3 times with one vampire, you lose your character permanently as an NPC gang member to the person you are blood bonded too. The same can be said for NPC’s that blood bond themselves to players.

  9. I’d give Corruption to both parties, myself. Takes care of attempts to abuse, but still gives opportunity to get more potent. Bonus, you could get rid of everything past “2 debts against them.”

And screw the Sabbat. If you really want to hear my thoughts on Vampire politics and crap, you can, but the more relevant parts for this hack come down to “If you’re part of the Sabbat, you’re a corrupt fucker as far as this game is concerned anyway. Good luck turning your character into a Threat.”
