Okay apparently it is Archetype creation weekend for me! I drew up the first draft of The King today as well. A leader of a crew who has an awful lot of weight to throw around. Despite the gender-specific name, there is nothing stopping someone from playing this archetype as The Queen instead. 🙂

  1. Might suit flavor more to call The Ringleader or the Master or the Leader?   The King just makes me think of a genderswapped Monsterhearts.

The sex move is evocative…I like that it puts a spin on the Hocus but puts a gambling element in there.  Whoever you sleep with could either save the day or screw you over big time.

  3. I think “The King” is fine. “Ringleader” makes me think of a goofy 70’s Marvel super villain. Granted, that was “Ringmaster”, but still makes me think of it. Ringleader also conjures thoughts of the circus.

If forced to come up with an alternative name, I might stick with the same family of positions of authority and go with “The Baron” or “The Duke”.

  5. “The Boss” definitely rings with images of the criminal underworld. Top echelon of the criminal underworld? Maybe not. Speaking of Marvel villains, “The King” is close to “The Kingpin”, who was definitely tops in the world of crime. Just don’t make a “Daredevil” playbook, and we’re okay.

  7. The Boss is alright, doesn’t sync with me as much as King though. I like the old world parallel you get with The King. Makes it a little more fantastical which is nice in Urban Fantasy.
