Then click here and download No Rest for the Wicked: the brand new Borderlands fan RPG by Wrecking Ball Game Labs!
http://wreckingballgamelabs.dvd20.org/
You can play as one of seven Vault Hunter Playbooks, either as a canon character or your own.
It contains a comprehensive and fun system for randomly generating guns and loot, and strives to capture the frenetic feel of really being a Vault Hunter.

aaaAnd… It is live!
Yes, it appears to be working just fine now, so if you subbed this thread to come back to it. have at it!
Nice!
I gave a quick skim to that, but I have to say that you modified moves in a weird way, I say in a wrong way. My advice is to get more insight from the pro-men in Apocalypse forum (or here in the community). I’d like to help, but I’m short in time those days, also I’m quite slow when write in english.
Here some example of choice that I really can’t understand why the player should choose:
Assess Loot:
…
On a 7-9 choose 1:
…
3) It’s not for you. Choose who gets it instead.
Demand What You Want: When you have leverage
…
On a 7-9, pick one:
…
2) They say they believe you, but they’re totally spying on you via the ECHO network
…
Got Your Back! When an ally fights for their life, you can step into harm’s way to revive them. Roll+cool. On a 10+ your buddy is revived, and gets half their Health back, and you get out of the way safely, too.
On a 7-9 pick one:
1)Your buddy gets revived
2)You escape unharmed.
>> the move is “revive the friend”, so with 7-9 result you shouldn’t negate the success. The second choice negate the success, so it’s not a great move.
etc.etc.
Also, there’s some work to do with layout (Rrrrespawn should get a list for the 7-9 results, for example).
Finally: best luck, it looks like hell of fun to play with that setting! 😀
The idea with these moves is, ultimately, to generate more interesting trouble and present a tough choice. Try them in play. If they still don’t work for you, let’s talk.
I’m a big fan of “Powered by Apocalypse” games, played and mastered them. That’s why I gave you my 2 cents about those moves.
Returning to one of the example, Got your Back, in the 7-9 result I’d give those choices (choose 1):
– You are acting under fire (example you get return fire, or you have to use another action to bring your friend in a safe spot)
– The enemy gain the upper hand (he could gain terrain, or come near victory, or gain a better position for next actions, or gain a nice weapon/object etc.)
(maybe you could add a 3rd choice): – You do a quick, minor fix. Your friend is revived at 1/4 HPs.
As you see, I don’t negate the success in all my choices, while you do it, with “your” move: why if the player want to go and help a friend, trying to revive’em, and rolling an “8”, he would choose “2)You escape unharmed”? That means his friend is NOT revived! So, a failure of the move.
Here I learned a lot about “Bad custom moves”: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3269630/dwdotcom/eon-guide/Dungeon%20World%20Guide%20pdf%20version%201.2.pdf
Real great work with this hack, Monica Speca
Thank you for sharing.
Any reasons behind the Atlas Society lacking from the tables and weapon options? I’m a bit curious about this, as far as I can remember, Atlas was quite important in Borderlands 1, where Hyperion is the top corpo from Borderlands 2…
Grégoire Pinson Thanks! Mostly because they’re not present in Borderlands 2, and it assumes a default “after BL2” time frame. There will be several rules expansions available, and I’ll see if I can work in some alternative Atlas Corp mechanics.
If you downloaded the first round of copies of No Rest for the Wicked, there was an error on one the random gun tables.
This has been updated, so you can go get yourself the updated, (hopefully) error free copy!
