“Burning a Bond with a teammate may mean the beginning of an unhealthy rivalry, doubt, suspicion or simply not getting along well together.”

Does only your view of them chance when you burn a bond with a teammate or does their reaction to you change too? If so, does that mean i can dictate what another character is thinking about me? At least i can dictate that they think worse of me now?

How exactly is this supposed to work?

  1. Yeah, you can play it however you like – but Bonds with players go both ways. For example, if you use Serve and Protect to gain a Bond with them, you might take an extra Bond, while they might refuse. Even if you and another player have the same number of Bonds, the description of the relationship might be totally different. I might have 4 Bonds with one character, while they have 0 with me. It depends on both characters and the fiction, but more often than not they’ll probably line up I find.

So, no, you can’t dictate what they think of you – things you do will affect the world and the characters. How they react to you is up to them, how they perceive you is up to them, but Burning a Bond definitely means a shifting perception from your POV at the very least, but most likely their’s as well. It’s something you’ll talk about when it happens – what it looks like and how both characters perceive one another.

  2. Work out with other player or EIC (in case of NPC) some examples I can think of are Aqualad in Young Justice, the Batman files on how to take down other heroes, (and brother eye). Tony Starks alcoholism, Hank Pym’s creation of Ultron.
