Went through the character and neighborhood building process last night of this amazing game by James Mullen. The whole process is incredibly fruitful and we got play for about an hour. It was enough for me to sit down and generate some interesting threats for our Front. Was originally going to do this as a short two parter but wanting to extend it to much more. First crime setting that uses debt and unwanted attention in just the right way.

My group completed my character and neighborhood building in my last session, and we are starting to play our first session tonight. I have a few fronts ready and a situation that will come up in the ‘Hood tonight the rest will the players just trying to get by.
I haven’t read The Hood. Are you supposed to create Fronts before play even starts? That’s quite different from First Session process in Apocalypse World.
No, its just like the others. Most of our time was spent worldbuilding and we were able to play for about an hour. Out of that hour came enough material for the Fronts I generated today.
what about you, Phil Vecchione ?
We did the world building first and the I built the fronts between that session and our first play. You need the neighborhood crested to make fronts..its part of the rules.
oh, ok. thanks, Phil Vecchione
This is good to hear, and makes me look forward to checking it out.
We played via Hangouts so we used Google Docs for all our documents. Here’s the neighborhood map we created yesterday, with some custom moves I’ve created for a few locations.
