Here’s a Skin concept I’m working on: The Sphinx.

Here’s a Skin concept I’m working on: The Sphinx. It’s unfocused and needs a lot of polish, so thought I’d throw it up for fresh eyes.

Basically, the idea is the brainy, cynical alterna-nerd, two parts lit geek and one part conspiracy buff: convinced of her intellectual superiority, scornful of all the stupid people around her, yet of course horribly insecure underneath. Intellectual rather than emotional manipulator who enjoys confusing and playing head games with the “stupid mice” without them being aware of it. In her Darkest Self she goes full-on Lecter, figuratively or even literally devouring those who don’t measure up.

Like I said: unfocused at present. There are too many Moves and they’re all over the place, but I think there’s the germ of a good Skin in here. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

  1. I see what you’ve done and think there’s promise there (although you’re drifting into Fey and Vampire territory).  But on my first impression your core move, Riddle Me This, appears to be a move that quite literally breaks Monsterhearts.  Monsterhearts is built round the Fruitful Void that no one should ever quite understand each other or know what the others are thinking (or even quite understand themselves) and I’m afraid you’ve just put a move right in the middle of that.

Oh, so me in college. Rough. Haha

  3. I like it, but I think there’s ferality to be gained. What other bad, misunderstanding behavior can you reward? “Taking someone on a date” is something your character may gain from anyway.

I remember an A*W Hogwarts mod, where Ravenclaw’s had the option:

“Mark XP when you use your superior knowledge to shut someone up.”

    Maybe something like:

“Smartest in the Room: When you Shut Someone Down and choose to remove a string, gain +1 forward to someone who observed it.”
