I have a question about the move feat of strenght, on a 7-9 what does it means to put yourself/them at risk of injury? How does it happens in game, or what kind of constraint does it imply?

Yes, I’m telling you Nathan Paoletta! 🙂

  1. I generally use it as an opportunity to set up a clear opening for hitting them with an injury when I’m able to use a Hard Move.

Say the character picks up their larger opponent and throws them clear over the ring – Feat of Strength! They roll 7-9 and I choose to put them at risk of injury.

“Ok, well, you get him up on your shoulders but you feel something give, can’t tell if it’s a muscle or tendon or something else right now…you have to jerk your torso to get him over the rope and he kinda pushes off to help (_fulfilling the “it’s an obvious effort” part),”

Then later in the match maybe the player botches a roll, or maybe they just put themself in the perfect position to follow through on that strained tendon and narrate how they feel it tear and it’s for-sure going to need to be dealt with, mark an Injury.

At New MexiCon a player framed a vignette where their Hardcore was power-eating hotdogs in a closet and I ruled it was a Feat of Strength. He got a 7 or something and I said “Well, you stuff the last hot dog in your mouth and you feel just awful. You’re filming this right before the match, so you’re going to go out there with a stomach completely full_ of undigested hot dog, that can’t possibly go poorly for you!”

There was a chum bucket involved later.

  2. Ahah, the part about the hotdogs it is hilarious!

Anyway, thank you for your answear, I wasn’t completely sure if it was the right way to handle that kind of choice.
