Hi every one, i am making a mistery about a shadow monster that turns reality in nightmares, and i tought that having the haunter’s fears as minions of the monsters would have been funny, but I have some dificulties with their creation. Here is what I wrote:

Allucination

Description: terrific illusion of someone fears, are different from every one. They are made of shadows and so creepy that will induce the watcher to suicide.

ask the hunters their worst fear and distort them in a more nasty way.

Type: assassin

Impulse: to kill the hunters

Powers: to induce people to suicide

Attacks: bad toughts ( deals the demage of target’ helded weapon) it turns for a moment the hunters against themselves making them to self-harm

Armor:0

Harms: 5

Weaknes: sunlight destroys them

  1. I’d make them attacks with illusions: the hunter is caught in a situation they think is real but the “obvious” course of action would lead them to their death. Like they think they’re in a long corridor and someone is calling their name, but in fact they’re on the edge of some busy highway, about to step on it.

I’d also make their weakness something the Hunter should do about them to dispell – violently confront their own fears, refuse to obey, etc.

I’d wrap all thing in a way that :

    a. I wouldn’t tell if it’s a dream or not and

    b. trying to use the weakness when it’s not a dream would have social consequences, like hitting a friend or looking like a nutso.

  2. I must say, for this sort of thing I like to let the player decide their hunter’s reaction. Something like:

When the shadows show you your worst nightmares, roll +Cool.

    On a 10+, you’re okay for now.

On a 7-9, pick one of these:

     * Turn your weapon on yourself.

     * Freak out in fear for a few seconds, unable to act.

     * Run away!

On a 6 or less, it’s going to be really bad.

The other suggestions from Daniele Di Rubbo  and Grégory Pogorzelski  are great ways to go, too. And your original idea will work as-is, although it might not be so interesting.
