Question: did you guys read the chapter Fronts Materials?

Question: did you guys read the chapter Fronts Materials? Besides having maybe the chance to try it out in a game, do you think it provides enough material for the GM?

It gives instincts and example GM moves for front types (very much like AW) but with very simple, hopefully evocative keywords. What’s your opinion?

If you had to rewrite that, what would you improve, change, do differently or keep as it is?

  1. I think there is a lot of good material, maybe a bit too much. I would trim the list of question and suggestion. I second the use of keywords, easy and evocative.

From a global point of view I find some problem in the overall organization, it seems to lack a good structure to adhere. In particular, but you know it is my idiosyncrasy, I find too loose the link between the fronts and the missions.

Considering the missions are the specific format of the play, I would expect something more focused on the mission front and how the fronts relate with the missions.

Also something more on the front clock could be useful. I like them, I like the idea of then moon also, but does it means that you have to have exactly 5 steps?

  2. As it happens, the play-by-forum game of Apocalypse World I’m in is winding up, and someone asked the inevitable question ‘what shall we do next?’  Which is to say, I’m going to get a chance to give City of Judas a workout!  Including the updated fronts rules.

    More, hopefully, to come.

  3. Henry de Veuve and of course, I will be eagerly waiting for some feedback – and for the name of your players so you guys can all go into the hall of fame of my playtesters!! 🙂
