I have a doubt with “the professional”.

The Professional has always +2Cool

One move of the professional gives him +1cool (max +3)

One advancement of the professional gives him +1cool (max +3)

He hasn’t advancements that gives him +1Hot or +1Weird.

It’s normal or there is some kind of error?

  1. My problem isn’t the power of the character.

    My problem is “the advancement and the move aren’t compatible. One of them is superfluous. Which of them?” This is my first problem.

    And then a curiosity: is normal that the Professional hasn’t advancement for +1Hot and +1Weird?

  2. I don’t really see what the problem is. If you look at the other Playbooks not all of them have Improvements for all five stats. The Crooked doesn’t get Weird. The Expert and The Flake don’t get Tough. The Initiate, The Monstrous, The Mundane, and The Spell-Slinger don’t get Charm. The Spooky doesn’t get Tough. The Wronged doesn’t get Charm.

    I would say neither the move nor the improvement are superfluous. The Professional gets three moves at character creation. If the player wants, their Professional can have +3 Cool right from the get go, but they only get two other moves to start with. Or they can pick three other moves at character creation and wait to take the +1 Cool improvement later.

    Do you want to be +3 Cool now or later?

  3. Don’t forget: You could suffer a permanent decrease to a stat. With two ways to get a +1 Cool, you could potentially get to +3, have a problem, then get back to +3.
