I was just on Google hangouts with some friends of mine and I think I may have sold them on playing a session or two of WWWRPG. We’re hoping to get four or five players involved. There are two potential wrestlers so far:

-a 7 year-old girl who dresses up in cosplay as various Magical Girl characters (Technician)

– a Russian wrestling bear descended from a long line of Russian wrestling bears (Provocateur)

So, the Anything Goes Wrestling Federation (AGWF) will be setting up shop in a few weeks. Can I get some advice on running federations and booking matches from those who have experience? I get the feeling this may be more challenging than I originally anticipated.

  1. If you looking for people I’d be interested but I’d need to know when you’re playing, as for advice have a vague plan so your prepared, but can also adapt to curve balls, weather it’s from the players the dice or both.

  2. Well, we might have two more players, but they insist on being sentient cheesecakes who wrestle as a tag team. I think this game is going to be nothing but curve balls.

  3. Heh. I’m already doing the cosplay gimmick in the sunday afternoon game.  I haven’t gotten around to the Magical Girl costumes yet, but they are coming!

  4. Look to the Play Aids pdf.  I find the Creative and Episode Prep sheets to be a tremendous asset before and during play.  I use them every game.  The Single Session Quickstart is very helpful walk-thru on running the first session.

For the first epsiode of my HEW game, the episode prep sheet was blank except for a couple notes in the On Deck section.  I filled out the segments during a short break after characters tied themselves together with the intros and heat setting.

  5. Book the easy stuff! Faces vs. heels. Make some notes during the Heat questions, usually an obvious rivalry or two emerges from those.

Structurally, for four players w/2 of them already wanting to do a tag team, you could do:

    – Singles match b/w the two singles wrestlers, then they have to face the tag team (will they work together?? angle)

    – Singles b/w one singles and one of the tag partners, and then the tag match.

    – Tag match against NPWs, singles match as the main event.

All depending on alignment and time you have to play.

    Sounds like a wild fed!

  6. Thanks for the advice, guys! Well, I told my friends they could play anything they wanted, and they’ve definitely taken me up on it!

I’m thinking there will be a heel stable on the show that are trying to take out the “freaks” and bring “real” wrestling back to the federation. Can a little girl, a bear, and some cheesecake win the hearts of the fans?

  7. They’ll have a gimmick of their own, but they’re essentially the hired goons of the killjoy GM who wants the fans to stop having fun watching the insanity, and learn to appreciate “actual” wrestling.

Basically, “You’re having too much fun! Stop it! Now eat this broccoli and do these algebra equations.”
