Today’s Archetype example moves us onto the next in line: The Fae!
There are some great examples in books, but I find solid Fae in TV and movies a bit harder to come across. The exception to the rule being of course….THE FRICKIN’ GOBLIN KING!!! Aka David Bowie and his amazing codpiece.
Who is your favourite Fae? I challenge you to beat Bowie!
Where’s the example? The Fae are the only reason my wife’s interested to play in the setting. I need this! 😛
The Goblin King is the example.
OOOOOH! I get you. 🙂
The goblin king is great! when I think of fae I tend to think of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, but that’s probably the English nerd in me.
Bad luck. Nothing beats Bowie!
Jareth plays in his own league, but…
-In the miniserie Merlin with Sam Neill, Mab it’s a great example
-Oberon and Puk in Gargoyles (a really great cartoon)
-Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold in Once upon a time… but I’m a little biased because I love Robert Carlyle
At this hour (2:40 am in Spain) I can’t find more, but I will think about it
Tough one, but… Pan from Pan’s Labyrinth (less glam rock but a lot more frightening) or Trick and the Morrigan from Lost Girl (both not nearly as cool, but living in an urban environment) come to mind. And Mr. Gold from Once Upon A Time is a great example indeed (for a Fae and for the debt system)!
The Man With the Thistle Down Hair, Jonathan Strange and Mister Norrell
Oona, Legend
Phouka, The War for the Oaks
The Piskie Gentleman, American Gods
Nikos Carcosa Upvote for Man with the Thistledown Hair! Are you watching the BBC miniseries!?
Daniel Hernandez de Dios! Robert Carlyle’s Rumpelstiltskin is a FANTASTIC example. I almost wanna change my answer now. 🙂
Well, that’s pretty hard to beat.
