  1. I think the main hurdle I have is the Phoenix is way more “mythical” than “supernatural”. Nothing about this seems like it’s someone dealing with, at their core, a very human problem (probably because you took the skin in an entirely literal direction with a cycle of death and rebirth which really isn’t reflective of a life struggle or a fitting metaphor for problems)

Constantly having your social life crash and burn and having to reinventing yourself from the ashed is something that does fit and resonate well with the game as a whole but that’s much for metaphorical than what you seem to be going for here because that’s not the feel that comes across.

Edit: as for suggestions, transition from physical death to social death (Which is what many people fear more than physical death. IE Better to die a hero and probably be imortalized than live as a coward)

  2. I enjoyed this very good idea, Branden, but do not know how. Really my only idea in this regard is that the literal death of the character can be avoided with the darkest self, but die puts you again darkest self which means that the only way to escape this cycle would be abandoning all the strings and start rebuild their relationship.

  3. A simple way to do it could be to spend Strings in some powers.

Right now she doesn’t have no reason to leave Darkest Self. Maybe she could came from death instantly, but with a cost in Strings. So she can be back again and again, but she NEEDS new relations that, in turn, she burns to come from death.

If she doesn’t leave Darkest Self, she can’t build new relations, and runs the risk of True Death.
