Is there a reason for the layout that isn’t obvious from the beta materials? I don’t see any advantage to this setup vs the typical arrangement, and at least for me, it seems wasteful of space on the sheet and more importantly, cluttered and hard to read.

  1. Giovanni Lanza’s got it right. The labels are laid out like that because they shift up and down. This way, all you have to do is keep the numbers circled when you change them, and hopefully it means you won’t be erasing and rewriting in the same place every time (and killing your paper in the process).

I’ve also found it to help with indicating that whenever one label shifts up, another shifts down—you can see it very plainly with this layout.

All that said, things can definitely change! This is certainly not the final version of the playbooks, so if we hear that this layout for the labels doesn’t really work, we’ll figure out another way that does.

  2. I have to say since the labels (stats) do shift during play I like the current setup.   At a glance around the table it is easy to see the high & low stats.  Plus it gives me yet another reason to use my colored glass beads. 🙂
