My regular group is getting keen to play Masks, and we use Roll20 as the core toolset for everything we play.  So using my astonishing powers of outdated half-remembered HTML from computing classes 15 years ago, yesterday I started fudging together a Roll20 Masks character sheet template.  It’s based on an existing template for Apocalypse World, and it’ll take some more fiddling to stop it breaking in a coupla places, but it’s getting there.  Having playbook-specific fields come up to track things like The Nova’s Burn or a Doomtrack is doable, too, but that stuff’ll take more than one day’s effort.

Also, apparently the people in Halcyon City don’t respect my mighty lineage of Australian authority. 🙁

  1. Nice…keep up the good work.  I like it so far. I don’t have access to the editor for roll20 since I don’t pay for it, and it will make planning my game easier.

  2. For the sheet itself, I realized that rolling +Conditions marked is a relatively common thing, so I put in an entry/button for that below the other Label rolls.  And it runs on how many of the Condition checkboxes are marked instead of an adjustable stat like the others, because having to count things is the worst.

  3. As someone with access to a mentor account, I’m very curious how others can make use of your hard work. I never thought about it, but a solid free roll20 module to get people started is totally doable for these games.

  4. As a Roll20 mentor, when you create a new campaign or edit the settings of an existing one, you can choose the default character sheet your table will use from a drop list.  The sheets on that list are just pulling their code from a database of approved sheets, so if/when this Masks one gets to a point where I’m satisfied it won’t eat peoples’ character info and result in angry emails, I think I can pretty much just get in touch with the Roll20 admin folks and get it hooked up to the database & added to that list.

You also have the option in that list to choose “Custom”, which will then present you with the blank HTML and CSS windows necessary to code your own sheet from scratch.  Which is exactly where I’m building this one.

In the short term, if anyone wants to use the sheet-in-progress for their game (I’m pretty confident the basic stuff works fine, though I promise nothing), you can message me and I can send you the code.  At which point it’s just a matter of copying & pasting it into those Custom Sheet fields, and boom: Masks sheets & roll templates for everyone at your table.
