So because my group is going to be out of town next weekend, I decided to have a little “what happened the week we were away” thing.  I just wrote up a Major Comics Crossover event, complete with blurbs for fifteen books.  At the end of tonight’s session, I’m going to ask them “Which of these other books are you cameo-ing in?’, and then start off the week after with an AW-style love-letter based on their choice.

  1. Individually.  I gave them a list of fifteen comics, with titles, issue numbers and blurbs.  Several of the blurbs were specifically focused on the themes of one of the characters.  Others were focused on providing opportunities for any character to bring focus to a particular element of the Fiction we’ve established, or explore an element common to superhero universes we hadn’t touched on yet.  And a few were just throw-aways designed to give structure and context to the Crossover & its narrative.

  2. So my Doomed picked the dark magic one I’d written with her in mind.  My Beacon picked the one highlighting a previously encountered science-based hero because they figured it was the best chance to get exposed to Gamma Rays and get some more serious superpowers.  My Bull picked the teen werewolf book because she figured appearing in a book with a low-powered protagonist but serious hinted-at villain would be a chance to get more spotlight.

And my Legacy ignored the two books that were specifically about the members of his legacy and picked one of the throw-away ones I hadn’t really thought through instead.

  3. Here’s the list I gave them.  This follows a session where I introduced the concept of Planetars (Kirby-esque space gods), and had one attack the prison they were visiting.  Most of these are based on stuff we’d already established over the first few sessions.  Shadow vs. Hayosoda vs. Lightbringer was their “team comes together”, and Maximus & the Utopian are the Legacy’s legacy.  Others, like King Scorpion and Gargoyle were written to fill in hero archetype gaps.
