The first of my one-a-month, Chinese Zodiac animal inspired Skins: The Rat. People may have seen this before, as I tried the exact same project last year, but there have been a few minor wording changes. Comments, criticism, and feedback would be greatly appreciated. 😀

  1. I really like this. It’s interesting to see a skin that could so easily be a monster or a metaphor for a human.

I would wonder how one would get rid of the condition ‘tapped out’ cause making you feel better won’t really fill up your wallet. (Might fill up theirs though)

although I guess it is a case of fiction first-maybe begging from your parents etc removes it.

In your mind do you see the zodiac skins work best for a game where every PC is a zodiac skin or do you design them to work with all skins? Because the sex move has interesting effects for the Zodiac lovers.

  2. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback Chirag Asnani. 🙂

The monsters in a “regular” game of Monsterhearts are a great way to bundle together certain kinds of personalities, behaviors, and abilities. Kind of like a class, but not. I feel that Skins that move away from the monster idea of the “regular” game need a similar bucket, and the Chinese Zodiac animals work well for that purpose.

I intend that, eventually, all the players would use Chinese Zodiac Skins.Hence the Sex Move encouraging you to hook up with other animals. But I didn’t do anything to these Skins that would prevent them from being use in a “normal” game. However I didn’t “balance” them against the normal Skins, and am not worrying about overlap either.

As for the tapped cut Condition, Conditions are ways other people feel about and perceive the character, rather than something the character necessarily is. Though I guess I’m playing with that a bit here. A way to clear the Condition would be to acquire a lot of money in the presence of other people, or to show everyone that you are, in fact not broke. Get everyone to believe that you are still rolling in cash and the Condition would go away.

Thanks for the encouragement Adam Goldberg. I’m going to try very hard to actually finish the project this time. 😀
