Why don’t starship weapons use the same tag system as assets?

Hm, good question! The tags are certainly baked into the descriptions of the four types of weapons, but they certainly could be called out better.
So! The older version of the rules did indeed have a whole bunch of tags. However, as I playtested them, the tags became something of a hindrance to the pace and narrative opportunities.
The four weapon types (along with fighter ships) play a sort of rock-paper-scissors game. As Alfred Rudzki said, the tags are baked into the descriptions, but not explicitly called out.
Ultimately, the weapons don’t have tags: they are tags. They are additional capabilities that the Ship has, the same way a pistol has upgrades that let it pierce armor or shoot plasma.
Ok. I guess it feels a little weird to me that the weapons of smaller vehicles use the more in-depth tag system while the larger ships are less detailed. But I can see the desire for a somewhat simple RPS style for ship battles.
