Would anyone be interested in a game played over Google hangouts?

Would anyone be interested in a game played over Google hangouts? Once I get my print copy I will dig through it a little more getting comfortable gming. I thought it would be fun to organize a game through here. Maybe we could record some live plays so that people could get an idea of how the game actually plays. What do you all think?

  1. David Andrews bummer man. I have such a hard time getting to play with my friends in Europe. Unless I can get time in the middle of the afternoon my time or they are willing to stay up really late their time it doesn’t work.

  2. Just Google Hangouts?  I’m a big fan of Roll20.net, which can run as an app WITHIN a Google Hangouts session as well.  It allows me to break out maps and visuals in a game, and store scads of handouts.  Here is an (unstarted) workup for a Traveller 5 game in lavish campaign detail.  The Journal items are public, but may appear alphabetized instead of the neat folders of the game.  Start with “Background”.

  3. So it sounds like there is certainly some interest. Can we start talking about a date to start on. Chalice In Chains, are you ready to start anytime soon, or was this just hypothetical?

  4. A Saturday date would be good.  I am in another game in alternate Fridays.

Do not be afraid to incorporate Roll20 into the play somehow.  I am enthusiastic about Roll20 and encourage people to get a free account and follow the Tutorial (which is an improvement even over their excellent videos).  Although it’s an easy 2d6+asset roll, players can set macros for their characters’ specific kinds of dice-rolls, adding the correct Attributes by creating them in the Attributes column of a Roll20 character-sheet.  If you can create a form-fillable sheet tailored to UW (requires some HTML/CSS scripting), that would be even better.   People on Roll20 are encouraged to store form-fillable character-sheets on GitHub for use by other fans of the game.
