One more question! Powers.
Push is a move that allows you to try additional things that are not actually on your powers profile. Is there any mechanical difference between powers already on your power profile at different levels?
For example, if I have “Wipe the floor with the world’s best fighters” as my Simple and “Dodge out of the way of bullets” as my Difficult do these powers work in any way differently from each other or are they simply areas that I can compare to when I Push?

Mechanically they don’t work any different – all powers do is provide fictional positioning. However, because you have to first be in the position to “use” your powers in the fiction before you can do so, the difficulty levels give some idea of how easy and under what circumstances you can use your powers. So why a power is at a certain difficulty matters.
For example, let’s say that you’re Iron Man and for your simple power you’ve got “Repulsor Blast” and for Difficult you’ve got “Unibeam” then maybe it’s at difficult because it requires some time to charge and he needs to have high power levels. If no moves are triggered then Iron Man simple does what he sets out to do and blasts Repulsor Rays and chest beams as he likes, but if he’s trying to use his Unibeam when he either has no time or no energy then that might trigger the Defy Danger move, or the GM might tell the player that they can do it, but not before you get hit by that thug, or not unless you can find a source of energy, etc.

Kyle Simons, thanks! That helps quite a bit! So for my example above, if I’ve got 5 random street thugs in an alley I may not even have to roll Take Down because it’s in my simple power slot (might make it more interesting, I guess, but may give the player a little “badass spotlight” time too!). On the other hand, if one of those thugs has a gun leveled at our character then rolling Defy Danger would definitely be indicated. If the thug is hidden while our character is taking out the other 5 thugs and shoots our character in the back then he may not get to roll at all!

Nicholas Hopkins Right! Sounds like you’ve got it down. And you only roll Take Down if they’re a threat to you (and Defy Danger if there’s danger) so there are situations where players wouldn’t have to roll at all and just do stuff (or, have stuff happen to them). I’m glad you’re enjoying the book 🙂
