this is, well, extremely cool! I’d say they’re maybe a little too vulnerable to assaults to be a proper hardhold, but I can see what you are saying…

In AW it could be a natural defense; perhaps the swamp water is poisonous, but the hardhold dwellers have an immunity. Or it contains indeterminate horrors, but the inhabitants have An Understanding that (usually) keeps them from attacking familiar souls.
