Uncharted Worlds is one of my favorite current games.
How’s Mythos World?
Yes. This is how it goes.
You can’t eat just one.
Martin Ralya so far I’m really liking it, but I just picked it up from the post office. Thumbing through the classes I see a lot of possibilities.
Is Mythos World a pbta? More info, pretty pls?
Andrea Mognon yes Mythos World is a PbtA game. Got it POD off rpgnow. I would bet Russ Brown would be better at answering any specific questions, if he has time.
When asked about Mythos World and Tremulus, Mr. Brown said “Tremulus and Mythos World are similar to the extent that they both rely heavily on the conventions established by Apocalypse World and Dungeon World, and they both draw on the classic 1920s setting and the basic character concepts established in the original Call of Cthulhu game. They differe in appoach. Tremulus maintains a sanity point and hit point system and uses lots of roll modifiers as move bonuses. In Mythos World, mental disorders and physical injuries are direct results of moves. Mythos World also favors move results that have specific narrative effects. Tremulus has meatier procedures for developing settings and storylines, including the extensive and interesting Ebon Eves scenario generator. In short, Mythos World is a simpler representaton of Cthulhu roleplaying in the Apocalypse World engine, while Tremulus has deeper rule systems.”
Woah, I’ll have to check out Mythos World! Thanks for posting!
I wrote Mythos World after my group played a session of Tremulus and had trouble figuring out how some of the rule systems fit together. It felt too mechanical for an Apocalypse game, at least for us. If you just want to get a feel for Mythos World, you can get the basic moves and playbooks for free from RpgNow or DriveThruRpg.
Grabbed Uncharted Worlds POD. Looks very interesting.
Russ Brown I’m digging the character creation. It’s a bit more in-depth than most PbtA games. Choosing origins and career path each with options to choose from makes for what looks like a very versatile system. While at the same time seems quick and streamline.
Thinking about picking up UW as a personal reward for some above and beyond the call of duty parenting. (I’m going to need something to get me through the next four days.)
