  1. I don’t think any PbtA games cover PvP particularly well, but in an actual play video for AW, Vincent Baker does the following for a PvP Seize By Force:

    * Both players roll

    * If one hits and the other does not, the outcome is obvious

    * If both hit or both fail, neither succeeds

    That said though…. sneaking past someone is a single Face Adversity roll. What would the other player be rolling?

  2. If the “defending” player is actively searching/keeping a lookout, then I’d make them Get Involved, probably using Mettle for their alertness and discipline.

    If it’s more “I want to get out without anyone knowing I’m gone” while the defender is going about their day-to-day activities, then it would just be a simple Face Adversity for the sneaker, letting the 10+/7-9/6- determine whether the other character spots them or not.

    Sneak vs passive ally: You roll Face Adversity

    Sneak vs actively searching ally: You roll Face Adversity, they Get Involved to counteract your Move.

  3. I should also remind that how they sneak past and how the watcher tries to track them is important to determining stats.

    I sneak out through the ducts: Physqiue

    I stick to the shadows, moving silently: Mettle

    I set up a recording of myself in my room, and blink the ship’s internal sensors: Interface

    I’m sitting at the main airlock, keeping alert: Mettle

    I’m tracking them using the ship’s sensors: Interface

    I’ve paid off a couple of shuttleport workers and local vagrants to trail them if they leave:Influence.
