  1. The thing about the Afro- Caribbean belief sphere is it’s syncretic. Everything has a place. Tonton Macoute is the bagman, petro loa are bad spirits, Taureau-Trois-Graines is the bull with three testicles with glowing red eyes and hoofprints aflame, Marassa are divine twins who could be creepy, Adze are undead that turn into bugs, Bouda are werehyenas, Mami Wati could be a siren queen, the lusca is a squidmegaladon mash up, nommo are Madagascar shark men, add on zobops, nagual, skinwalkers, cipactli, ahuizotl, coatlicue, tzitzimime, cihuateteo, horned serpents, haints of the Deep South, la llorona, and Brazilian jungle demons there’s alotta room to run

  2. Quick question – where is this voodoo action going down? New Orleans? Port au Prince? Miami? San Juan? Ponse? The Dominican Republic? Barbados? Etc. The colonial cross flavoring can help narrow things down

  3. Okay, then monsters are going to be Cajun flavored – mami wati, adze, marassa and tonton macoutes to start. Possession is a big theme, sympathetic magic in the form of dolls and cursing people’s footprints. Mix in skunk apes, black eyed children, and el cucuy for flavor.

  4. I’m podcasting a MotW Acutal Play, set in the 30’s Deep South.  Fulfilling your request was a two-fer.  Let me know if there’s anything else in partiuclar you’d like expanded.

  5. Aaron B hmm our current fiction includes portals to other worlds (The Chosen’s fate). Anything similar in voodoo? The loa just ride people – is it possible to go to the realm of the loa?

  6. The Loa act as divine arbiters and allies, granting petitioners pleas through blessings, curses, and such.  If you want more blatant magic like an Otherworldly portal then do it.  The Underworld is called Guineau, the Overworld is really Catholic – steal some stuff from Paradiso.  There isn’t really a place of punishment since it was derived from the folk beliefs of the enslaved.  Hell was waking up for another day of backbreaking exploitation.
