  1. Colin Matter I use that one and I might just continue to use it. I was wondering if anyone had a fully complete one. But maybe this is more fun to make it random.

  2. Chalice In Chains  From a GMing perspective, I find it way more helpful to have a randomly generated map with a whole bunch of seeds on it to help with inspiration than to rely solely on my own imagination.  There’s nothing wrong with relying on your own imagination, but in order to produce a whole sector it’s nice to have a tool like this to help.

On the flip-side (to provide a different perspective), I’ve run a Space Opera without a sector map before; just a general faction layout stuck onto a galaxy picture.  We filled in the map as we went along just making up star type, how many and what types of planets inhabited by how many and what types of people using government type x or y.  That was pretty fun as neither the players nor I knew what would be in the next system they visited.  So I would argue that sometimes you don’t need a detailed map at all to get playing.

Note: I still prefer to not have to do that much heavy lifting (regarding setting creation) at the table which is why I like the emichron generator so much. 🙂

  3. Just a thought, would something like a Traveller sector map work, but for each world you would have a listing like Rustic-Productive-Hub, Advanced-Privileged-Lane, or Barbaric-Crowded-End.  You then leave it to the GM to connect the worlds with jump points.
