6. The Uniques has good, down-to-earth costume designs.

   I know it’s Marvel, but Spider-Man 2099 had some damn cool and very un-marvel designs.

   The Planeswalkers and Legendary creatures from Magic the Gathering. They do have a fantasy bent, but the character design is frequently sooooooooo gooood. Also, the design is heavily themed by mana color. Caveat: I’d limit it to the past 10 years.
