I’m really enjoying the sprawl.

I’m really enjoying the sprawl. There are currently 10 playbooks. Has anyone created any alternate playbooks? In my mind, the only one that might be missing would be the courier, a courier could be recreated with some of the other playbooks but couriers are somewhat iconic cyberpunk I wonder if they should have their own playbook. Any other ideas on cyberpunk playbooks not covered in the book?

  1. The settings for Touched and Necropolis both introduce new playbooks (shamen, mage, necrotech, sorcerer, I think were the names) . However, I haven’t seen a courier playbook yet. Are you thinking something like in Snow Crash? I’d probably use the Driver as a base, maybe?

  2. Actually, my assumption was that “courier” referred to a Johnny Mnemonic… someone carrying secure data in their head. But that’s more of a cyberware feature (+inaccessible partition, +encrypted) than an entire playbook…

  3. Riley Crowder I don’t think Necropolis has been posted yet. I got to playtest it at Gamex last weekend. 🙂 It’s so creepy awesome! Jesse Burneko is creating something sublime.

Simon Geard Ah, right! I still need to read that one!

  4. Simon Geard Those cyber ware features are included precisely so you can do a Johnny Mnemonic character.

That archetype comes up a lot in my games, but only as an NPC. I could definitely see a playbook based around moving and protecting data. It would be great for one shots; it would shape campaigns in a very particular way (which could be a feature or a bug, depending on your perspective).
