Just had a pretty kick-ass session of UW with Todd Zircher John Reiher Dirk Cjelli and Ari Arrikanez . Tensions are high, secrets abound, backstabbery is at an all time high, the John Henry’s getting AWFULLY cramped, NPCs are really starting to come alive, and player/GM spotlight/interplay is improving steadily.

This session really reminded me why 6-s and 7-9s are where the magic happens. Consequence to cost to revolting development and nasty choices inbetween — which, of course, snowball into future issues and inevitable confrontations. We had ’em all in spades.

Thanks again for running this, Todd! Much enjoyment and dramatic cringing was had.

  1. Blackmailed scientists, a crazed killer, hacking corporate secrets (when supposedly looking for survivors), failing power and structural integrity, crewmen covered in sprayed blood, sabotage and knowing witnesses, daring piloting through a debris field while trying to save a life in the cargo hold (my setting does not have gravity tech), lies and damned lies, depression and claustrophobia, getting too close and then puking in the captain’s toilet (in zero G), unexpected kindness, paranoia, damning discoveries, and eavesdropping. Oh, and there’s still tension between the clones, the normals, and who is going to end up in the ice cold cargo containers. There are currently something like 148 people on a ship that normally holds about 20 and there’s still more people begging for help.

  2. I’ll add a little epiphany I had during yesterday’s session. When you’re a player, keep aware of everyone’s advancement methods. We had a great scene come up because me pursuing my character’s advancement created a situation that allowed Ari’s character to trigger his. Advancement snowball, if you will.

This takes some of the heat off the GM in terms of keeping an eye on and (occasionally) bending over backwards to make sure SOMEBODY hits their trigger.
