Wrestling Newb: Anyone have suggestions for good reading covering structures and history of various wrestling formats? Japan, Lucha, US, etc to give some background and perspective? Alternately good podcasts covering the topic. I saw the resource list with video suggestions, but I’m wondering about other media. Anything to make be better at being a Creative.

  1. I would recommend all aspiring Creative read any of the wrestling (auto)biographies and Blood Red Turns Dollar Green. Great stories you can slip into the goings of your promotion.

  2. Books – Hot Shots and High Spots. Ringside. Blood Red Turns the Dollar Green. Cheating Death Stealing Life.

There’s a bunch of great documentaries that aren’t mentioned, particularly in America and Japan. Lucha libre is largely oral tradition, the oldest wrestling promotion in the world is CMLL.
