How do people in the UK typically print out their playbooks? The layout doesn’t map well from US legal to US letter/UK A4 printing, and you end up with a whole bunch of white space around the edges of the page. I know there were murmurings of EU-friendly archetype print-outs – any idea if they ever reared their heads?

In the interim, any tips for actually making the playbooks fit neatly on our paper?

  1. I have to fiddle with the scale of printing – printing it “borderless” works well enough and at least brings the right and left of the playbooks within about half an inch of the right and left edges of the paper, but the format means that there’s still about an inch of white space at the top and bottom of the pages.

My printer also has confusing duplex/double-sided printing options which seems to want to print the second side of each playbook flipped 180° from the first.

I’ve got the Aware printed out 4 times now trying to get the settings right!

  2. Yeah, the ‘only available in legal size’ is a bummer. Annoyed to discover it as we finally set down to play next week. That said, I’m looking at the Tainted playbook (which I’ve got my sights on) and I see that two of the six columns are effectively wasted space — one’s a character image, the other is character creation stuff that no longer needs to be there after you’ve made selections from the menu. So if I clip those columns off, the remaining four actually-used-in-play columns fit on the front and back of a landscape oriented sheet of standard printer paper (which I feel is a basic requirement for a playbook). Granted, I did that in InDesign, which isn’t for everyone.
