Does anyone have any good examples or AP of using the want bits of the Hocus/Hardholder beginning of session moves?

Does anyone have any good examples or AP of using the want bits of the Hocus/Hardholder beginning of session moves? I get them mechanically, but they seem to fall a little flat in play for me. I want to see how the pros do it.

  1. Both the folks at Jankcast and [insert quest here] have actual plays of a harldholder/hocus (respectivly) and handle the wants pretty well. They are also both really good APs. If you want to listen to the Jankcast AP, look for the ones marked black diamond.

As far as I can tell, it should crop up in play as a problem that the Hardholder/Hocus has to go deal with. If the MC wanted, they could tie it to another front or issue happening in the world already (like followers defecting to a rival religion, or a tough rousing the hungry crowd into a violent mob).

  2. I haven’t had any Hocuses but I had a Touchstone with a ‘cult’ in one of my games. It was more of a political movement/social scene. Its wants were Judgement and Disease.

Disease was straight forward when it came up: sick family members and “terminal” cases of zombie fungus.

Judgement manifested as bickering between the members as they argued amongst themselves: how should we establish democracy? why isn’t the Touchstone doing something? Why doesn’t she listen to use we have useful insights (and the insight move)? Generally it made everyone else not in the cult irritated at them and the Touchstone.
