The Ongoing Games Matchmaking Thread II

If you’re looking to run or play a game of World Wide Wrestling, here’s a thread to connect!

ORGANIZERS: Looking for players? Post the kind of game you’re running, the medium (Skype? Hangout? Roll20? At a convention), timeframe (day and time) and the best way for interested players to get in touch with you.

PLAYERS: Looking to play? Introduce yourself, possibly including where you’re located or what times you’re available. If you want to follow up with an organizer, please start a new thread, send them a direct message (i.e. a post that’s JUST to them, no circles) or contact them as they request in their post.

This thread is casual and self-directed, please be respectful of each others time. Thanks!

now ring the bell!!!

  1. Hey, I’m looking to run some games over hangouts/roll20 in the new year however my time window is small (8pm – 12 week nights) which means it’ll exclude many – let me know though!

  2. I’m running a 3 week series of WWWRPG starting Sunday, 4/23 from 9-11pm EST using Roll20 and Hangouts for audio.

We’ve got a couple commits and a couple Maybe responses. I’d like one more firm Yes. If anyone’s keen on joining, tag me back.

  3. Looking to join a game. Currently don’t have a webcam but that could change in a couple weeks. I have a very free schedule so even though I’m on US EST I can be flexible.

  4. G’Day all, new to this group and I’ve finally had the chance to play WWWRPG for the first time today, sadly a one shot, and now I’m eager to play more. I’m on Australian EST Time (or GMT+10 if you’d like), so I’m usually around 12-15 hours ahead of most US people I play with, I’m free Thursdays and Saturday Morning (Wednesday and Friday evenings for US folks). I can do both skype and discord.

  5. So I was inspired from the One shot podcast and a typeo so I’ll be running WWW at the queencityconquest.com – Hey folks. Another posts about the games that will be running at the … event 204.

Buffalo Beatdown Ball. World Wide Wresrling

The Real Housewives of Buffalo get in the ring to fight for glory, pride, money, and power over the social elite. Women rule the ring to fight for the men in their lives or to attract the eye of another rivals husband or lover. Create a character using the playsets from Nathan Paoletta’s PBTA game World Wide Wrestling. Be booked in matches, cut a promo, and open a can of whoop ass. If you ever wanted to be a Wrestling star and tell a story in the ring. This is the game for you.

  6. Hey there, I would love to join a g plus or other type of online game. Would be more interested in playing than MC because I almost always MC but would be OK with either.

If I get enough interest in a weeknight game starting at 8pm pst I’ll organize it.

  7. discordapp.com – Discord – Free voice and text chat for gamers hey, I’ve been running a live session (participation in each session is not required) over discord (obv.) with the sessions having been uploaded to Youtube. We use bots on the discord to do the rolls and use a voice chat on there to talk, but a microphone nor webcam is required. You just got to be able to listen in to us talking to be able to understand what is going on. We’ve been doing this session for about a month now and are heading into our first PPV entitled Gold Rush. Sessions take place at 3 PM EST on Saturdays normally, and we have 8 available gimmicks remaining. If you are able to, come on down to the discord and see what California Championship Wrestling is all about!

  11. Campaign Name: Fighting Spirit! International

    Tabletop: Roll20

    Voice chat client: Discord

In 1965, Wrestling All-Stars of Japan was founded. From humble beginnings doing shows in high school gymnasiums, they rose to become the premiere professional wrestling company in Japan. In 1999, the company rebranded itself as Fighting Spirit! and capitalized on Japan’s reborn interest in the Sport of Kings, thanks in large part to the explosion of the Attitude Era of the US pro wrestling scene. They were pioneers in the sport, allowing women and men to wrestle one another.

It is now 2018, and Fighting Spirit! has just expanded into the US. After buying out some small independent promotions around the country, Fighting Spirit! International is a rising power in the profession wrestling scene. With the inaugural Fighting Spirit! United States Championship tournament on the horizon, you’re hoping to get your first taste of FS! gold.

Looking for 3-5 players for a game on Saturdays, starting at 4:30 PM CST (or thereabouts).

    Self-direction: Medium-High

Combat: No tactical combat, but high amount of in-ring wrestling.

    Roleplay: High

    Exploration: None

Player Buy-in: WRASSLING. It’s not real, obviously; Creative – aka the GM – decides the outcome of the matches beforehand (although you can sometimes swerve these plans). It’s up to you to tell a convincing story and win over the crowd, independent of wins and losses. You must be able to appreciate the larger-than-life characters, in-ring artistry, and determination that go into a professional wrestling match, because you’re in it. Be ready to do cool moves (which are all spelled out in the book), play a character, and ham it up for the crowd. Also, heels are more fun than babyfaces.

Apart from that, you’ll have to deal with the real-life backstage politics and relationships that any wrestler has to deal with. Your tag time might be booked to go over your rivals tonight and finish the rivalry looking strong, but your partner was out all last night drinking and didn’t come to the show tonight. How do you salvage that?

This game is heavily inspired by the aesthetics and attitudes of Japanese puroresu, in particular the product put forth by New Japan Pro Wrestling. This means there will be fewer promos where wrestlers stand in the ring and talk about how cool they are and how they’re gonna kick their opponents’ ass. That kind of stuff is done in press conferences between shows, or short interview segments after matches. Usually, the only in-ring promos are done at the end of the night, by the winner of the main event. In addition, while flashiness and charisma are still absolutely paramount, garish and cartoony characters like the Undertaker are nonexistant. Everything is made to look at least a little bit real.

  12. Hey guys! I’m copy/pasting my recruitment post from Roll20, hope to find some players! Message me here, on Roll20 as King Goblin, or on discord as Papa Goblin #3641

  13. I’ve been thinking of kicking off a WWW campaign on Fantasy Grounds, but there isn’t much or any interest in my usual circle of players. (Can’t imagine why more cosmic horror fans aren’t into wrestling.) Pretty flexible on scheduling this early into planning, but could definitely swing either an American or European friendly time. Can reach me at Hammer#2830 on Discord best.

  14. Hi I just found out about this game and would love to join a group for either a one shot or long term campaign. I live in Ontario (EST) and am free most weeknights and flexible weekends.

  15. mr leedles sorry for asking super late, but is your game still running? I’ve always wanted to try my hand at WWW, but never got the chance to.

  16. Hey everybody, discovered the game this year and I’m a big fan. I’ve only been able to play as creative and I’m looking to try out being a player. Does anyone run a game and looking for new players?
